I've been journaling semi-regularly for a few years now, and have been using Obsidian as my journal app for the past year. One of the principles that's encouraged in the Obsidian community is to keep your notes small, and link them together.
It's generally proven to help with the cognitive load of writing. One of the side effects of that though, is the volume of notes. It grows rapidly over time, and finding them, despite the search functionality, and linking, can be challenging. Particularly, for me, I don't go back to my previous notes much.
It's not that I don't want to, but since I write primarily as a means to clarify or vent my thoughts at a given moment, I don't see myself revisiting the older notes. But I love a little drip of serendipity in my life, and I thought it would be fun to build a tool that helps me force serendipity.
Enter,
Serendipity, a plugin that allows you to view ramdom notes from your vault, every time you open the app, taking you on a random walk through your notes. Read the installation instructions and configuration options on the
Github README.
